45 ml/3 tbsp water
175 g/6 oz blackberries
100 g/4 oz/1 cup plain (all-purpose) flour
50 g/2 oz butter or hard block margarine, diced
50 g/2 oz light brown sugar
2.5 ml ground cinnamon
Peel, core and slice the apples and
place in a saucepan with the granulated sugar and the water. Bring to
the boil and add the blackberries. Cover and cook gently for 5
minutes. Turn into an ovenproof dish.
Meanwhile, put the flour in a bowl and rub in the butter or margarine.
Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon. Spoon over the fruit and press
down lightly. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for
about 20 minutes until lightly golden.
