Method:
Put the butter and sugar in a saucepan
and heat gently until the sugar has melted. Boil for 1 minute. Blend
the cornflour with a little of the milk. Stir the remaining milk into
the sugar and butter and bring to the boil, stirring. Pour over the
cornflour, stirring. Return to the pan and bring to the boil. Cook for
2 minutes, stirring all the time. Stir in the vanilla essence. Serve
hot.
