300 ml milk
30 ml/2 tbsp caster (superfine) sugar
A few drops of vanilla essence (extract)
A knob of unsalted (sweet) butter
(optional)
Method:
Blend the cornflour with a little of the
milk in a saucepan. Add the remaining milk and the sugar. Bring to the
boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring all the time until thickened and
smooth. Stir in the vanilla essence to taste. Beat in the butter, if
using.
