Chocolate Biscuit Gateau Recipe

Ingredients: Serves 4-6

Oil, for greasing
200 g/7 oz/1 small can of sweetened condensed milk
50 g/2 oz unsalted (sweet) butter

225 g/8 oz/2 cups plain (semi-sweet) chocolate
2.5 ml vanilla essence (extract)

200 g/7 oz/1 packet of Marie or other plain biscuits (cookies), roughly crushed
50 g/2 oz chopped walnuts

50 g/2 oz raisins
A little whipped cream and walnut halves, to decorate

Method:

Lightly oil a 15 cm/6 in deep round cake tin (pan). Put the milk, butter, chocolate and vanilla in a pan and heat gently until melted. Stir in the biscuits, walnuts and raisins until thoroughly coated. Turn into the prepared tin and press down firmly. Chill until firm. Turn out on to a serving plate. Decorate with whipped cream and walnut halves.
