Bananas Foster Recipe

40 g/3 tbsp butter or margarine

45 ml/3 tbsp light brown sugar
1.5 ml ground cinnamon
A good pinch of grated nutmeg
4 large bananas
Any vanilla ice cream (or use bought), to serve
Toasted chopped nuts, to decorate

Method:

Melt the butter or margarine with the sugar and spices in a flameproof dish. Add the bananas and turn to coat completely. Leave to stand for at least 15 minutes. Place the dish under a hot grill (broiler) for 5 minutes, turning the bananas once, until just cooked and lightly golden. Transfer to plates and top with scoops of ice cream and a sprinkling of chopped nuts.
